We are approaching 7th!
How have I spent my past 7 years with him? I thought to myself..
Recently, friends were chatting and mentioned a game called "the boyfriend tag". It was a list of questions which the girlfriend will ask the boyfriend and the whole activity video recorded. The objective is to see if the boyfriend remembers important things about the relationship and his girlfriend, and of course his reaction to those questions. Some of the questions were.. When was our first date? When was our first kiss? ... Well, I vaguely remember those dates, I wonder if he could recall?
Speaking of the different stages of relationships as what seen in the WongFu's production "Strangers, again", we are probably getting too "comfortable" with each other. Now having to plan our activities for next week, I'm running out of ideas, again. What can we do together other than to celebrate over meals? I don't even know what to get him as an anniversary present. Gosh!

His birthday in November
The worse thing is that I did not fight for my own rights with the obnoxious waitress and walked away unhappy, only to regret about it after that. I wonder what was I thinking..

Brekkie at Spruce
Darlie got the message! We arrived at Spruce late sunday morning for a dose of good brunch to comfort myself for weeks of misfortune at work. I was more than thrilled when Mr. Darlie dropped hints that we are on our way. Darlie and I waited for a while at the reception area before getting a table, despite the advance reservation. Nevertheless, people-watching was enjoyable.
The open deck in Spruce looks like a canteen with hanging fans and traditional long tables, creating a laid-back atmosphere.

Adapted from that little gift from you many years ago.
It happens
in an instant,
I'll be sitting or standing
or walking
or talking.
I'll be thinking about something,
anything,
nothing at all.
But then,
there you will be,
racing through
my mind,
making my heart race.
The very thought of you,
in an instant,
makes me glow.
If you remember.. :)

Back to the 60's
I felt like I was brought back to the 60's when I stepped into the cafe, which was illuminated by the bright colours of decors and furniture pieces.
Seen often on magazines and newspapers, I decided to check out the flashy cafe one fine afternoon.
Caramel has a good mix of prints and colours on almost all decors found in it, and the brilliant thing is how these colours liven my mood, the same way its pretty little cupcake does. Unlike other dessert places that uses pure white dishes, this one serves its cakes and bakes on dissimiliar, yet well-mixed coloured crockery.
I am inspired by how they transformed second hand pieces of furnitures into what looked like brand new ones now.
The server recommended the cream cheese carrot cupcake and the caramel cupcake. I decided on the carrot one, which was interestingly spongy and moist, given its fibrous ingredient.
We spent the lazy afternoon (him) reading papers, (her) flipping through recipe books, and savouring cakes over tea.
Indeed, a wonderful afternoon.. ;)

Birthday, with bliss
It was a simple little date with Darlie - we met for brunch, followed by a movie, then he joined my family for a simple dinner. But I love how the day was spent. That's what I meant by quality time. :)
Braise. Decked on the 2nd floor overlooking the Palawan beach, this modern cafe introduces ease and comfort by using beigh, white and brown hues. Simplicity seems to be its theme. Nonetheless, Braise offers a wide selection of appetisers (in buffet style), eggs or pancakes, a main dish and dessert to complete the decadent meal. Other than free-flow juices, one can top up the bill to make it a champagne brunch.
One big disappointment of Braise is probably when the orders ran out. I ordered my favourite pancakes but the kitchen ran out of pancakes!! I had to change my order to crispy egg, which resembles a plaster prata. There were also other occassions when they ran out of watermelon juice, carrot juice etc..
Egg benedict on toast with hollandiase. Darlie says that the yolk wasnt runny.
His mains - duck confit with orange sauce
My mains - cod fish
And then finally desserts. We had the tiramisu and hot fudge chocolate cake.
Dinner. We were still full by dinner time, but had to meet my family for dinner cos Dad & Mum would be travelling to Genting the day after. Nevertheless, it was a great dinner with everyone around..

8 hours of sleep - to be fulfilled tonight!
I finally see broad daylight on my way home from work today. Even if it's just for a day, I appreciated it so much. After so long, I had admitted that it's my fate to become a workholic. To work 7 days a week, and thereafter struggle to climb out of bed every morning. Maybe I get to rest a little during the weekends. But still , I digged out some personal time for work, not to mention my personal time on weekdays too. The fact is, when I see the office crowd strolling on the streets of Orchard Road at 6pm on a weekday, I felt envious! When can I ever have such a chance?
There's no one to blame other than myself - for being so inefficient at work all the time. My jobs arent tough. At least the previous one was simple but I spent more time than necessary. I swear that my unexplanable long hours were not spent idling. Thankfully, I wasnt doing the job I did last year cos' the manager swopped me over with Vincent. He probably had a harder life than me cos' there were times when I left office and he was still around with the manager rushing to meet deadlines. We totally switched identities as compared to the previous peak!
Work may be stressful, but thankfully friendships tat I forged at work are definitely something to swipe all the awefully thoughts away. Ah Neo bought me Happy Hippos! And silly darlie is here to swing my moods up and down like a volatile stock! Let's hope he's swinging up or down at the right time. Or I might just get delisted from the stock market! HA!

The Birthday Month.
August, usually the month I look forward to each year.
Early August
My sweet colleagues gave me a surprise on 8th August with a cake brought to me at my desk. I was almost touched to tears.
This year, Darlie & I had several quarrels over watching the Beijing Olympics Opening & celebrating my birthday. We ended up doing both together! Compromise compromise compromise!
Somewhere towards the end of the opening, Darlie appeared with my cake, half-NAKED!! haha..
Darlie secretly placed the digital photo frame on the side table while I was bathing.
We went to watch sun rise at Changi the next morning, but it was such a disappointment. We reached at 530am and at 7am, we saw the sun, parts of it hidden by the clouds, hanging a distance from the sea level. Umpteen times of disappointment.. Nevertheless, I love watching him struggling to keep awake just for me.
We visited his uncle and Darlie's nephew is sooo cute! I was quite impressed with how Darlie handles babies. (I seldom praise him but he actually looks cuter than the baby!)
Had our dinner at Bang & Charlie, a cosy little cafe tucked at Turf City, away from the crowd. Just what I need on a public holiday! No jams, no long waiting time, less noise and roomy space for just me & King. The food is reasonable priced and portions are really big! One thing to note, the potato salad is a must try!
Since it's my birthday, I booked a facial slot for myself the next day. What a way to pamper myself, ya? Right after facial, I celebrated my birthday with my family at JuShinJung, the korean BBQ restaurant that I finally got to try!
Mid August
Thankfully, I managed to arrange a dinner with Reny after work. Both of us had been busy with our own commitments, we can seldom have free time for each other. That day, she had to travel down to meet me at Raffles Places as I was held up at work, again! I wonder why, the time I end work can never be predictable. Is it a work place culture? Reny and I promised to meet each other at least once a month. Hopefully, it works!
Sometime that week, I had dinner with Sherlynn & gang at Sushi Tei. It was a great hang-out and it turned out that they were there to celebrate my birthday. I got a free treat from them too! Nice!

That weekend, Guis and I went trekking at Southern Ridges before ending the day with a dinner at Vivocity. I was terribly late that day and we had to start the trek late. In the end, we didnt complete the full 9km walk and had to stop at Hort Park.
By the time we cleaned and dolled ourselves, it was already late in the evening. We went in Thai Accent at 945pm and had to finish our dinner by 1030pm! What a rush, but thankfully, the service was fast and the staff extended our time! Guis had been very good company too!
I had been making scrap books for Darlie and this month, I received one for the first time! My dear Ting made me a scrap album that send me down the memory lane. Some of the pictures were like 10 years old?!?
That day I accompanied Ting to Sentosa for her usual sun tanning. I could tell she was really eager to get her tan as she persuaded me to travel down in a taxi! Unfortunately, the rain came right after she applied her sun tan lotion. How unlucky can she get? We ended up having salad buffet at Swensen's followed by a dessert treat at Bakerzin.
Month-end
I was supposed to spend my birthday week with Darlie in Bangkok this year since we could bunk in at Yut's apartment. In the end, I decided to give it a miss due to the last minute decision and my savings plan. This time round, Yut came over to Singapore. Darlie's Dad initiated to treat Yut to a dinner and Darlie invited me along too! Perhaps out of curiosity, I got tempted by Yut to see Mambo at Zouk! Yup, clubbing on a Wednesday! Sounds abit crazy but I went ...and never will go again!
Met Ting for movie on Friday and drink thereafter. We joined Darlie at Timbre after movie. Havent been there for a long time and since I was there, I ordered pizza, my all-time favourite at Timbre! Yup, there goes my diet plan..
That weekend, I met Penpo for desserts, part of my birthday treat from her - our birthday tradition. Love spending time with her cos' she never fail to make me laugh. That woman has inborn humor genes! I tend to forget all my troubles when I'm with her.
The birthday month ended with a high tea buffet at Carousel. My best friend's birthday falls on the same date as me, and we cant help emphasizing how coincidental it can be! Although we couldnt celebrate on the exact day, Ade and I decided to pamper ourselves and indulge in high-tea buffet. The food at Carousel was reasonably good. But Ade made me regret that my final decision wasn't the high-tea buffet at Marriot Cafe. We shall go there one fine day, for their desserts!! haha.. Currently, the only birthday wish we havent fulfil is to do pedicure together. Cant wait for that next month!
August: A month of Family and Friends, Food and Fun!
