All I want for new year is...

  • It's 5 days after Christmas, and I'm embracing the coming new year.
  • Was flipping through my 2007 organiser and I came across this:

2007 Resolutions:

1. Good time management (Be early than late)

I only managed to keep to an early routine towards the later part of the year, with the help of King's nagging. I thought he helped me alot in being more aware of time. But there are still exceptions, such as the recent case of letting him wait half hour on skype while I lose track of time in the bath room. ;p

2.Eat healthy

I totally ignored this part. I think I pampered my tummy with too much sugar!

3.Keep fit - Exercise!

Although I practised yoga on most saturdays and go jogging with my parents on sundays, it's still insufficient considering the amount of food intake I have.

4.Be less demanding to King ;p

I think I did a better job in this towards the later part of the year. He's getting more trust from me. (Arent you relieved, Darling?)

5.Get at least 2As this semester

Errr... Dont mention this to me anymore. It's over!

6.Save money. ($800 by June)

I know I didnt achieve this in June. But I did it in Nov, not including the liabilities incurred before Nov. Whahaha..

7.Treat my family (& King <- scribbled by King) better

Once in a while, I still raise my voice at them & later on felt sorry about it. But I'm in general a more HOMELY girl ;)

8.Appreciate my friends

There's always room for improvement. But I really appreciate all my friends. Love them all!

  • Well, I didnt seem to keep to all of them, but they kept me aware of what I'm supposed to do!
  • Moving on to 2008, of course there's more to come and I have already thought of some.. (note: in addition to the list above)

2008 resolutions

Love, at home.

  • Sometimes, the best thing in life isn't thing, it's love.
  • Family love..
  • Since young, I had been closer to my mum. I talked to my mum and I avoided my dad. It was until recently that I realised I grew closer to my dad. He seems to be easier to talk to..
  • My dad has been a changed person every since the horrible incident happened few years ago. He's more patient, although he still speaks at a loud volume that sounds like he is scolding. There were times where we had arguments or rather, got scolded by him, moments where I was annoyed by his loud voice, and situations where I shouted back at him. Despite all these, those little little things that he did never fail to prove how nice he is to me.
  • For instance, the X'mas party that I'm organising for the Guis tomorrow. We were at cold storage on sunday getting groceries and he was even more enthusiasted than me, picking up items that he deemed necessary for the party! On that day, he even volunteered to wash the toilet for me. The groceries costed $130 and he said he can subsidise me. Eventually I only paid $50.
  • I was in the kitchen earlier on when I noticed an NTUC bag placed on the table. I was touched to see some cutleries that he bought specially for the Xmas party. I didnt even think of that! Tomorrow morning, he's gonna fetch me to the wet market and cold storage to do a last min grocery shopping although he could have rested at home.
  • He has always been very supportive when I invite my friends over. I still remember the last steamboat gathering at my place with my JC classmates and he spent the whole afternoon preparing the soup base.
  • I am contented and I'm really grateful. Thanks, dad.

Home Alone..

Great! Mum and Dad is away in Hong Kong and Ping tagged along. So that leaves me home alone for 3 days 2 nights. Anyway, Qiang is seldom home. And even if he is, we stay in our room.

Well it really isnt that bad. I have more privacy, lots of space for my own and I get to do what I want. I thought of giving King a call, but on second thought, nope! I'm not sure if I'm trying hard not to bother him, or I really isnt too bothered with not talking to him nowadays.

This morning, he told me he's smoking weet (something that makes you high) in Amsterdam when I called him. I was slightly appalled. On one hand, it was due to some miscommunications I had with him earlier, on the other hand, I thought it was something that I couldnt accept again. He seems to be always trying out new things when he's overseas. And he's doing it without even telling me first. What's the point of telling me only after it has been done? I thought he could at least sms me and say he's trying out weet smoking. That's maybe too much from him and I'm too demanding on my side. But I wonder what's next..? Ya, I should probably trust him and leave him to decide what should and shouldnt be done..

Just reached home from company's xmas party at Asian Civilisation Museum. It is quite a nice place to hold a party. Everything is great except for the food. Caught up with Annies today after so long.. She had been like my chatting-mate since the first day in office. OH! And my senior and manager says I'm getting chubby!!!! I think it's time I seriously think about cutting down on my huge appetite lately!

Few friends I met at work..

Yesterday, today & tomorrow..

  • Yesterday: Met up with Sab and Jun for a little advance X'mas get-together at Timbre last night. Gossiped and updated each other on current "affairs". Goodfellas is good but the table they offered us wasnt in a good position. So we didnt get a very good view. The table next to us even offered a whole pizza to our table. But we played it cool by rejecting. Haha..
  • Today: It's King's official holiday now, a pity he's not flying back Singapore, but busy travelling around Europe. He should be in Belgium now.. Time flies, and he has been there for more than 3 months already. I guess March will arrive very soon again!
  • As usual, I attended yoga class today, this time without Ade.. Dont know what happened to her lately, she hasnt been feeling well. Maybe things were not going smoothly for her, or she's handling great stress - home, school, work and relationship.. What I can do is only to show my care and concern the best I can. But somehow, I think I wasnt doing enough. I totally do not know how I can go about doing it. I wonder if it's because we tend to keep things to ourselves, different from the way we used to tell each other so many things. I can understand how she feels. When I'm feeling down, I tend to keep within myself too.. But I'm really getting worried.
  • Met up with Johnny to get Xmas present for company's xmas party this Wednesday. It isnt an easy task especially when the budget is $15 and we have to get something that's unisex and practical. In the end, Johnny got a card holder and I bought a key chain. The packaging looks really worn out, though..
  • On the way to yoga, seen this group of 4 people from China standing at the MRT station exit. Although they were standing at the corner, they practically blocked the exit by treating the scanner as a table, crowding around it to chat. It's not the first time I seen the Chinese so inconsiderate. They tend to stand at the end of the moving escalator, obstrucing oncoming passer-by too! Just dont understand why they cant be more considerate! In a way, they are tanishing the Asian's reputation..
  • Tomorrow: Going Dempsey Hill for breakfast after out routine jog at Botanica Gardens! It's to celebrate Ping's bday! Cant wait!

02S22

  • Sunday, 09/12/07
  • Browsing through the photos I had taken during the JC gathering last sunday made me realised how much I had changed since I graduated from college. I probably look so much older now, seen much more things and no longer the little naive girl that I used to be.
  • In particular, working and schooling seem to portray 2 different worlds. At work, I see the extreme ends of people and it is this that make me realised how important communication skills are. Back in school, everyone seem to be so friendly, so courteous, I sometimes wonder if the world could be so perfect.
  • The gathering was as usual. updating each other with our lives, ocassional silence with everyone's mind going through all the possible topics to start off. (At least, that applies for me!) Once in a while, we tried hard to communicate to people sitting 2 tables away but conversations usually wont last. So I ended up talking to the people, infront of and next to me. Sometimes, I really wonder what better things to do for quality gatherings.. Nevertheless, it was great as we took the chance to celebrate Xia's birthday at Swensen's. The only pity was the continuous rain since morning.. All of us were unable to leave our house on time. In the end, I couldnt watch movie at all. I guess I havent watch a single movie for more than a decade, I dont even know what's screening now! Ping & I ended up buying flowers and cakes to Lixia's place before going to Holland Village to meet the guys. I had to pick Ping up from her house, to jurong point to get flowers and cakes and then back to Xia's place with my pee coming out any moment. Ping had to run in the rain. SO look at the amount of effort we put in! AHaha..
The happiest woman on Earth.

It all started with a cake..

Saturday, 08/12/07
-
A cake received, delivered with sincerity all the way from London. Of course, the cake isnt from London. It is the sweet little thoughts. The cake indeed brings back memories.. We started off with a cake, and continue to move on through cakes. Haha..
Thanks darling, for being so thoughtful. I'm loving it! Yummy!

A day out with Ade!

Went jogging in the morning today.. Finally after 3 weeks of procrastination!
-
Ade suggested to eat out at Shima Japanese Restaurant before our yoga comabt class. She mentioned this restaurant several times to me and I finally get to try it today! We had teppanyaki buffet and I had to admit, the buffet was really worthy for a pig-out session. What's on the menu? We were first served with tempura prawns as appetiser. Then salmon sashimi.. I'm not a huge fan of raw fish, but I happily took 2 slices because it didnt taste as aweful as my first few experiences. We concluded that fresh salmon was served! As we were busy eating the first 2 dishes, we were entertained by the chef as he skillfully shoved garlic and prawns left and right, dashes of sauces and butter, and presented nicely fried garlic prawns on our plates. The prawns were really awesome - succulent and tender to the bite. The second dish served from the teppanyaki pan was teriyaki chicken, slightly fried to a crisp. The third was oyster. Not those that you had at the coffee shops when you order oyster egg or even when you eat at seafood eateries. The difference is obvious. Next, what Ade had been looking forward to - their simmered salmon. The chef put a few slices of salmon into a folded aluminium foil, filled it with sauce, and cooked it for a few minutes. He will then signal for the waitress when the dish is done, and let her present it nicely on our table. The last 2 dishes was beef steak and bean sprouts. I had my beef well done since I prefer tough meat. Ade had medium rare.. A pity the garlic fried rice that was served was too little, I find the rest of the meat a little too salty towards the end of the meal after I finished all the rice. Yet, I managed to empty my plate, even after second helpings. It was a satisfying meal, apart from the uneasiness from the bloated tummies and continual burps...
-
Yoga class went smoothly today. But due to some misunderstandings, we had to attend power yoga today instead of combat class. A few hand stands were taught, but it was too high level for us. Ade and I ended up looking at half the class performing stunts with our mouth opened! I made up my mind to do those hand stands after 12 months of yoga classes. That shall be my goal!
